Laura's Battle with Cancer - July 3, 2010
I am pleased to report that Laura and I attended the wedding of my daughter Katie in Florida last Saturday, and Laura was strong and able to celebrate through the weekend!
She had timed her chemotherapy treatments to insure she had recovered by the wedding date. Thankfully God granted her this reprieve and all went well as you can see by this picture of Katie and Laura!
We returned this week and Laura was given her fourth (and final!) chemo treatment on Thursday July 1st. She is now suffering the fatigue and nausea which follows each treatment and lasts about a week. We are thankful that with God’s grace there should be no need for further chemo or radiation.
Over a year ago Laura and I planned a trip to the Village of Oberammergau in Germany to coincide with our anniversary in August. This small town puts on a passion play once each decade and has been doing it for almost 400 years! It began as a dedication to Our Lord for protection during the “Black plague” and has continued ever since. Half of the entire town participates in this massive production which lasts five hours!
When Laura was diagnosed I was inclined to cancel the trip, but Laura has always wanted to see this play and did not want to wait another ten years for the chance. So with your prayers and God’s mercy, we are leaving July 26th for Germany and Vienna!
We are so very grateful that The Lord has provided so much incredible science to the medical profession to help Laura and so many others. We are resting in the certain knowledge that Jesus knows and loves us.
Thank you for your continued prayer, love and support which sustains us daily!
